Garden City to build a hotel in Phase II

 Garden City one of East Africa’s largest mall has announced the construction of a new business park that will host a four star hotel.   The park will be developed on an additional 21 acres of land adjacent to the original 32 acre site that already hosts apartments and retail centres.   Michael Turner, Head of Actis Nairobi said that the new construction will also accommodate a hospital, green spaces and a pedestrian.... Ethiopia-Djibouti railway line to start operations early 2016

The Ethiopia-Djibouti railway line is expected to begin operations early next year, according to project officials railways Ethiopia is developing its transport sector in a bid to provide a boost to its economy.    The US$4bn project, which is being helmed by the China Railway Engineering Corporation and China Civil Engineering Construction, will be considerably completed by October 2015, said Ethiopian Railways Corporatin chief.... WORLD BANK GRANTS SH 54 BILLION FOR KENYA-S.SUDAN FIBRE OPTIC AND SUPERHIGHWAY PROJECT

African and Italian Constuction Companies collaborate to lauch new company

 Dangote Industries Limited has entered a multimillion joint venture agreement with Italy’s Saipem to establish a new company called Saipem-Dangote E&C   The new company aims to secure complex engineering and construction (E&C) projects in the Nigerian, Central and West African markets, said Dangote Group executive director Devakumar Edwin. TPA plans to increase Dar Port capacity

Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) plans to increase capacity of Dar es Salaam Port for it to handle consignments from 15 million tonnes to 18 million tonnes per year with effect from next year, following a major renovation exercise.   Dar es Salaam Port Manager, Mr Hebel Mhanga told a press conference in Dar es Salaam that the Port will be able to handle consignments in five days instead of the current nine, saying the move will allow more.... Kenya: Construction of Kenya, South Sudan Fibre Optic Cable Commences to Enhance Communication and Inter-Border Trade

Kenya and South Sudan will be connected to a high-speed fibre optic cable within the next two years enhancing communication and inter-border trade.   The ICT Authority is implementing the Kenyan-side of the project through a World Bank fund estimated at a cost of USD 25.5 million dollars, while the Sudan side is estimated to cost USD 15 million dollars. Zanzibar to construct new sea port

ZANZIBAR government has officially approved the construction of a new sea port at Mpiga-duri coastal area starting early next year. China signs two construction deals worth US$5.5bn in Africa

 China Railway Construction Corp Ltd., (CRCC) has signed two deals worth US$5.5bn for construction projects in Africa railwaylinenigeria-johnward CRCC’s China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation will build an intercity railway line for US$3.5bn in Nigeria’s Ogun State. Construction of Power plants in Egypt gets funding from Japan
