Lafarge Africa Set to Buy-Out Minorities in Ashaka Cement

Lafarge Africa, the Nigerian unit of the French cement maker, Lafarge, is poised to make a cash offer valued at about $122 million to buy-out minority shareholders in its Nigerian business, Ashaka Cement, it emerged on Tuesday.   According to Reuters, the bid comes shortly after the $1.35 billion union of Lafarge Africa’s Nigerian and South African businesses, which has already gotten approval from shareholders in July this.... US$116m set aside for construction of two open markets in Kenya

ARM Cement to increase investments in East Africa

East African cement maker ARM Cement has announced an increase in investments across the region as the demand for cement continues to rise. Tanzania: Dar to Construct Embassy Building in Kenya

Kenya: Sh12 Billion Moyale Road 40 Percent Done, Reports KeNHA

The Sh12 billion Turbi-Moyale Road is 40 per cent complete, the Kenya National Highways Authority has said The project is the third and last phase of the Mombasa-Nairobi-Addis Ababa Road Corridor Development project. Kenha said movement of goods and services will be enhanced once the project is completed. The project, financed by the African Development Bank, was started by President Mwai Kibaki in October 2012. Tanzania to construct a new NSSF office in Kenya at the cost of US$39.8m

Tanzania is planning to put up a new office in Nairobi – Upper Hill area – a building that will also host the country’s embassy in Kenya. Construction of US$ 2.76m Dongo Kundu bypass in Kenya to start early next year

Permanent Secretary in the ministry of Transport John Mosonik has said that construction of the Dongo Kundu bypass in Mombasa will start early next year. Egypt hires German firm for Suez Canal construction work

The engineering division of the Egyptian armed forces has announced that Egypt will use machines made by a German firm to bore at least four tunnels under the Suez Canal project, in a US$8 billion project of expanding the waterway and through which the government seeks to raise more revenues and foreign currency reserves. US$64m flyover to be built over Coco Beach, Tanzania

The government of Tanzania has signed an agreement with the South Korean government to see through construction of another flyover in Dar es Salaam. The flyover will be constructed over Coco Beach along Toure Drive, where it will connect with the Ali Hassan Mwinyi Road.
