Dubai, January 21, 2013: Wood Show 2013, the 3-day exhibition where visitors and exhibitors can 'plant', 'nurture' and 'grow' their businesses, is set to take place in Dubai from April 9 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

From timber, hardwood and plywood to treatment products, spraying equipment and wood machineries, the Wood Show aims to meet all the needs of people involved in the business - producers, manufacturers, traders, suppliers and end-users in the wood industry chain.

The coming April will offer a chance for the timber industry professionals to interact and develop ideas for increasing the range and quality of business. The three days also offer them a chance to interact with top decision-makers in the industry and increase their visibility. “Evolution, divergence, and additional growth opportunities are the objectives which we have set for this year's show, Our intention is to facilitate the platform in helping this year's wood machinery exhibitors meet new contacts and generate key opportunities The Middle East region is presently showing an amplified demand for sound and effective wood working machinery that can help manufacture world class high grade wood products, we are obliged to welcome wood industry for this year's Wood Show" said Dawood Al Shezawi, CEO, Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions, organizer of the show.

Meeting the region's demands and expectations

The biggest wood industry trade show in the Middle East is being held in Dubai not only because it is the region's business hub, but also to meet the demands of the booming wood industry. According to the International Trade Centre, in 2010 the UAE was among the top 30 timber and wood importers in the world. During 2011, UAE imported $708.9 million worth of timber and wood products and during the same period, the re-exports of this commodity amounted to $150.8 million. According to the statistics from the department of Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, imports and re-exports of all types of timber into the region are at an all time high - a demand that has increased the need for specialist woodworking machinery and tools. This year, Dubai Wood Show is looking to involve more entities to be part of this network to strengthen the commitment the show has with the wood sector in Middle East. For this purpose, the show presents the initiative to promote wood as a construction and decorative material in GCC for interiors and exteriors. A seminar will be organised as part of this initiative to approach the main topics relating to construction and design. The seminar aims to involve architects, contractors, investors and developers in the initiative to bolster the use of wood and discuss the use of wood in the GCC and the ongoing projects in UAE. The seminar is addressed for individuals involved in the industry to ensure that the trading of wood products is from a known source, minimising the risk of buying illegal timber. The programme for an accompanying seminar will be announced shortly by the event's organisers Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions.
